About Dr. Buck &
Peaceful Parenting Inc.

You love your child. You have tried everything.

And still, you find yourself stuck in daily power struggles that leave you drained and doubting yourself.

If you have ever thought:

  • I do not want to yell, but nothing else works.

  • I feel like I am either too harsh or too permissive.

  • Why can’t we just connect?

You are not alone. And you are not failing.

You have simply been given tools that do not match how humans actually work.

Hi, I am Dr. Nancy Buck.

A calm voice. A clear framework. Decades of experience.

Dr. Nancy Buck- Author and founder of Peaceful Parenting, Inc smiles in a black shirt

For more than 30 years, I have helped parents, educators, and leaders make sense of human behavior.

But this work did not begin in a classroom or as a research paper.

It began in real life. Sitting across from parents in tears, teachers who feel overwhelmed and teens shutting down.

What I saw again and again was this:
People were not broken. Both adults and children, were misunderstood.

For me, that realization changed everything.

I stopped asking how we could control behavior and started asking how we could understand it.
Not through fear, but understanding the basic psychological needs we are all born with.

I learned about and became trained in a new psychology, Choice Theory psychology.
And just in the nick of time as I had just given birth to identical twin sons!

Putting together biology, psychology, Choice Theory, and connection. I created Peaceful Parenting!
This became my life’s work, personally and professionally

Ongoing writing

This is not about gentle parenting.

It is not about sticker charts, time outs, or scripts.
It is about Choice Theory psychology.

This science-backed approach explains the how and why of human behavior. Rather than attempting to change behavior from the outside, it provides the map to work with your child so that he or she will change his own behavior, transforming unwanted “misbehavior” into effective, responsible and respectful behavior. This process actually creates lasting change.

Here is what parents are often relieved to learn:

  • Children do not learn when they are afraid.

  • Defiance is communication, not disrespect.

  • Control does not create responsibility. Understanding does.

I do not give you one-size-fits-all rules.

I teach you how to read the Instruction Manual you and your child were born with, and how to use it in real life.

This approach is calm, clear, and deeply practical.
And it works.

For those who want to know the professional foundation behind this work:

Whether I am supporting a single parent or training an entire organization, my goal is the same.

“The style of writing is as gentle and patient as the approach recommended. The theory is convincing and manifests common sense. The multiple anecdotes and examples are offered all in good humor and humility.”
